Alexla Pérez-Sánchez

Research Associate

Alexla Pérez-Sánchez is a research associate at Inclusive Development International. She holds a bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of North Carolina at Asheville, and a master’s degree in the theory and practice of human rights from the University of Essex, specializing in gender, race, and identity. She is passionate about inclusivity, migrants’ rights, business and human rights, and indigenous studies. Through the University of Essex’s Human Rights Clinic Centre, she helped conduct a 9-month-long comparative analysis of three Latin American and three European countries’ National Action Plans on human rights. The research team sought to understand the differences and the strengths of each model’s approach to business and human rights, and to design recommendations to improve future versions. Alexla was also a part of the university’s annual Human Rights in Asia Conference, presenting Indigenous Peoples’ contemporary challenges and victories. Before her international human rights research and studies, Alexla worked with nonprofits in Western North Carolina advocating for land conservation and outdoor education.
