Misha Charles

Deputy Executive Director

Misha Charles is the deputy executive director at Inclusive Development International. She is a mission-driven leader with more than two decades of experience across the nonprofit, corporate, and startup sectors. She brings deep expertise in strategic operations, organizational development, and governance.Misha has led transformative initiatives throughout her career—from expanding grassroots advocacy and community engagement as chief program officer at the American Alpine Club, to strengthening financial sustainability and board effectiveness at Phelps Stokes, where she oversaw a $4.5 million budget and served in an acting organizational leadership role. She has also advised business alliances, public institutions, and global nonprofits on aligning purpose, people, strategy, and systems for lasting impact.Her international experience reflects a long-standing commitment to economic and social justice. She supported programs in Liberia and Colombia, and spent two years living and working in South Africa, where she taught at the University of Cape Town and contributed to global leadership development initiatives. Misha also serves as Vice Chair of The Conservation Alliance, the nation’s largest network of conservation-minded businesses.She holds an MBA from the University of Colorado Denver, a master’s in Education from George Washington University, a master’s in history from the University of Cape Town, and a bachelor’s in history from Princeton University.
